The Institute of Human Virology (IHV) at the University of Maryland is known for its aggressive pursuit of the latest scientific advances in the fight against AIDS. This aggressive pursuit has translated to new laboratory discoveries, clinical trials and community outreach programs, all designed to help improve the health of citizens worldwide and empower them with the tools of treatment, prevention and education.

A new AIDS in Africa section was launched in May 2003 and immediately became the most viewed section, after the IHV home page.
