HIV transmission shift in Europe The Lancet Infectious Diseases Recently published statistics have led to speculation that a shift in the European trend of HIV transmission is underway. An independent U.K. health-care agency, Isis, reported on March 19 that newly diagnosed HIV cases in the heterosexual population are up 15% to 51% of cases, but that in the USA homosexual infections remain predominant.
