PowderJect to start human trials of new HIV vaccine in 2003

PowderJect release

PowderJect Pharmaceuticals, the U.K. vaccine maker, has reported a sharp rise in half year profits driven by record sales of flu vaccines. In addition, five powder injection DNA vaccines will move into clinical trials, including a powder injection HIV DNA vaccine as part of the company's partnership with GlaxoSmithKline. An additional academic collaboration has demonstrated the ability to suppress long-term viral load in a number of preclinical models, highlighting the therapeutic potential of this type of novel approach.
